Britan's, Proprietors of Select British and South African Groceries and Confectioneries, was originally opened as a Yogurt shop in Tampa, Florida in 1991 until members of the British Commonwealth Society of Tampa Bay suggested British goods be included.

The owner of the shop, Tania Reed, has expanded her business over the years by offering British and South African groceries; a leading shop of its kind in the area.  "We've had many English people in here that are just ecstatic to find a little bit of home. And we've had a lot of Americans who are excited to try something new."  Britan's stocks a variety of British imports including teas, pickles, biscuits, sauces and soups as well as South African groceries like Biltong, Droevor, Mrs. Ball's Chutney, Ouma Rusks and Anchovette Paste.  The shop also caters to those with a sweet tooth. A large candy display offers such tempting fare as Cadbury's Milky White Buttons, Crunchies, Flakes and Smarties! See our selection of British imports or South African groceries.

Gift items of interest are also available; T-shirts, license plates, tea cozies, coffee mugs as well as fine china.  The 30 seat shop displays a large map of Great Britain pinned on the wall so patrons can point out places they have visited.
